In the olden times, diabetes was for older people and rich people ( who had access to a variety of food). But there has been a tremendous increase in the number of people diagnosed with diabetes in recent times. This is my life story with type 1.5 diabetes. I was diagnosed with Type 1.5 diabetes, also known as adult onset of diabetes, at the age of 24. Many might wonder if it is quite early to get diabetes and so did I. It stuck me as a huge shock as none of my immediate family members have had diabetes.
Here are some alarming signals which led to my diagnosis
1. Repeated Infections
I started developing repeated infections. My immune system was acting a little hyper and weird. I had a GP visit almost every month not knowing the cause.
2. Tingling feet
I had a tingling feet feeling which was much worse when I lied down at night. Even now, I sometimes develop tingling feet which I know are directly linked to my high blood sugar levels for a longer period.
3. Ultra Dry Skin
My skin was dry no matter how much moisturizer I used on my skin. Sometimes, I can develop breakage of the skin due to its dryness.
4. Always thirsty and need to pee a lot
I was thirsty and at the same time had the need to pee a lot. This symptom could be a little tricky because most coffee drinkers also have this symptom or side effect.
